अंतर्राष्ट्रीय साक्षरता दिवस | Katihar Medical College

आज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय साक्षरता दिवस पर केएमसी की तरफ से यह अपील की जाती है कि सभी साक्षर बनें। आप सभी स्टूडेंट्स से अनुरोध है कि आप सभी साक्षर ही नहीं विशेष रूप से शिक्षित हैं, ऐसे में आप की जिम्मेदारी अधिक है! अपने आस-पास रहने वाले लोगों को भी साक्षर बनायें। यदि देश का हर स्टूडेंट यह ठान ले कि वह कम-से-कम एक गरीब बच्चे को पढ़ायेंगे तो यकीन मानिये कि हमारे देश में कोई भी निरक्षर नहीं रहेगा।

भारत में शिक्षा की बहुत ही दयनीय हालत है। 2011 की जनगणना के मुताबिक भारत में साक्षरता दर 75 फीसदी के आसपास है, लेकिन अब भी भारत दुनिया की साक्षरता दर 85 फीसदी से बहुत पीछे है। यही नहीं जनसंख्या की दृष्टि से देखने पर भारत की उच्चतर शिक्षा-व्यवस्था अमेरिका और चीन के बाद तीसरे नंबर पर आती है, लेकिन जहां तक गुणवत्ता की बात है, दुनिया के शीर्ष 200 विश्वविद्यालयों में भारत का एक भी विश्वविद्यालय नहीं है। इससे बड़ी विडंबना और क्या हो सकती है? विश्व संगठन का आकलन है कि दुनिया के 127 देशों में 101 देश ऐसे हैं, जो पूर्ण साक्षरता हासिल करने से दूर हैं, जिनमें भारत भी शामिल है।

यूनेस्को के मुताबिक, 'साक्षरता दिवस अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय को यह याद दिलाता है कि साक्षरता मानवाधिकार है, यह किसी भी तरह की पढ़ाई की बुनियाद है।' हमारे देश में यह बहुत जरुरी है कि साक्षरता को मानव का अधिकार माना जाये, तभी इस देश की तस्वीर बदल सकती है। आज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय साक्षरता दिवस पर आप सभी स्टूडेंट्स यह संकल्प लें कि देश के किसी भी व्यक्ति को निरक्षर नहीं रहने देंगे। किसी निरक्षर को साक्षर करना भी देश-सेवा ही है।

हॉस्पिटल की जिम्मेदारी परिसर तक पहुँचे मरीजों के इलाज तक खत्म नहीं होती. मुसीबत में पड़े हर मरीज तक सहायता पहुँचाने का दायित्व भी इन्ही हाथो में है. दूर-दराज़ के इलाको में जहाँ परिवहन की सुविधा ज्यादा अच्छी नहीं, वहां तक अगर चिकित्सकीय मदद नहीं पहुँच सकी तो ये हमारी हार होगी. इसकी अनिवार्य शर्त है “बेहतर एम्बुलेंस सेवा”. कोसी-अंचल के कोने-कोने तक लोगो को ज़ल्द एम्बुलेंस सेवा मिल सके आसान नहीं है! कटिहार मेडिकल कॉलेज ने अपने बूते इस दिशा में कई कदम उठाये हैं!
कटिहार मेडिकल कॉलेज-एम्बुलेंस सेवा अपने आस-पास के इलाके के सभी लोगो के लिए दिन के हर पहर उपलब्ध है. ऑक्सीजन-सिलेंडर, वेंटीलेटर, पल्स-ऑक्सीमीटर, जीवन-रक्षक-दवाएँ आदि से लैस एम्बुलेंस 24 घंटे उपलब्ध रहती हैं. कॉलेज के पास कई एम्बुलेंस हैं जिनकी मदद से अशक्त मरीजों को लाया, ले जाया जाता है

'लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट' चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में भारत को एक नई उपलब्धि ! Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

चिकित्सकीय क्षेत्र में भारत को एक उपलब्धि हासिल हुई है। दिल्ली के अपोलो अस्पताल में एक अनोखे तरह का 'लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट' हुआ है। 
यहां ऑपरेशन के जरिए डॉक्टरों ने एक इंसान के लिवर को दो मरीज़ों में आधा-आधा लगाकर उन्हें नई जिंदगी दी है। यह इस तरह का पहला लिवर ट्रांस्पलेंट ऑपरेशन है जिसमें एक इंसान के लिवर को दो मरीजों में लगाया गया है। 
अपोलो अस्पताल प्रबंधन इस अनोखे तरह की सर्जरी के लिये बधाई का पात्र है।
इसतरह की सर्जरी देश में होने से लोगों को इलाज के लिये विदेश नहीं जाना पड़ेगा। साथ ही, इस अनोखे लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट से चिकित्सकीय क्षेत्र को एक नयी दिशा मिली है।
लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट की यह सर्जरी अपोलो अस्पताल के डॉक्टर सुभाष गुप्ता ने की। इस ऑपरेशन के जरिये 35 साल के सरीन और 41 साल की ललिता को मृत मरीज का लीवर लगाकर नई जिंदगी दी गई है।
दरअसल, लिवर शरीर का इकलौता ऐसा हिस्सा है जो आधा लगाने के बाद भी पूरे साइज़ तक बढ़ जाता है। लेकिन देश में अंगदान बेहद कम होने की वजह से लाखों मरीज़ बिना ट्रांसप्लांट के मर जाते हैं। देश में 2 लाख मरीज़ों को लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट की ज़रुरत है जबकि सिर्फ 1500 मरीज़ों को ही लिवर नसीब हो पाता है। हालांकि, ज़िंदा इंसान से भी लिवर लिया जा सकता है लेकिन मौत के बाद निकाला गया एक लिवर ही दो इंसानों को लगाया जा सकता है।

Higher Education Opportunities in Bihar | Katihar Medical College

The minorities in our state have been caught in a vicious circle of poverty and backwardness. Lack of opportunities for education, especially higher education put all the development efforts to the back. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim realized this root cause and devoted all his energies to create a positive environment for the backward minority youth of Kosi region.

It was the summer of 1984 when young Karim managed to study a few reports by Sunil Mukherjee Committee and the Mudaliyar Committee. The reports strongly recommended for establishment of a medical college in Katihar.

Ashfaque Karim had decided to give a bright future to the young minds who were drenched into poverty due to lack of resources. He started exploring his wide social contacts and end up with the apex court historical verdict to establish a minority educational institution, that is, Katihar Medical College. The opening of a medical college in the backward Katihar district not only have provided better health services to the ailing masses but also paved a path for the talented minority students who were seeking for higher education opportunities.

It has been several years since its inception. The institution has celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2012 with much glory and fanfare. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim has been serving the first minority college of Bihar as the Chairman and MD.  However, this is just a beginning. Much is hidden in the future. With great power comes greater responsibilities and Ashfaque Karim is successfully shouldering his responsibility to give a better future to the youth and the downtrodden masses.

“The rise of Katihar Medical College against all odds”

He never accepted to be a victim of circumstances. Instead of bending on his knees, Ashfaque chose to fight a battle.

Those were struggle days. Kosi region was crying for better health facilities as there were no private or government hospital. Education was a matter of concern.  The then State Government of Bihar had left the region ignored. It was Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, who decided to set up a medical college in the backward Katihar district with a vision to provide quality higher education to the deprived but deserving students.
     When Ashfaque and others approached the Education Department to issue a NOC (No Objection Certificate) to establish the Katihar Medical College, they find the government reluctant to permit despite of the provisions of law under article 30(1) of the Constitution which permits minority communities to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice. However, the reluctance has not defeated Ashfaque strong will power and his mission to do something for the betterment of the masses. He moved to Supreme Court of India which justified the establishment of this college and directed the B.N Mandal University, Madhepura to affiliate the college.

It has been 28 years of the establishment of the institution. As of date, more than 20 batches have already passed out from this college. They are serving the mankind all across the country. What a tremendous triumph of Ahmad Ashfaque Karim who was once denied to issuance of a NOC!
